What is Reiki?

Reiki can be defined as a non-physical energy healing comprised of the life force energy guided by a higher life force. Reiki is very much
spiritually based but not associated with a specific religion. Reiki is a way we can support our body’s processes to stay healthy by managing our life stressors and the symptoms which accompany a chronic health condition. Healing takes place on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level depending on the recipient’s needs. You do not have to believe it works for it to work, but it certainly helps the process.
It is an excellent therapy for promoting mental clarity and emotional balance working on the emotional aspects of our energetic bodies by releasing blockages that make us hold on to pain, trauma and ingrained responses to “triggers” (anger for example)
How does Reiki help? It supports the body’s relaxation response which then keeps us feeling focused and balanced. It is a holistic approach along with other “supportive” practices such as aromatherapy, yoga, acupuncture, reflexology, chiropractic. It supports our body’s process to remain healthy and ward off the symptoms of illness or chronic conditions. The goal of these practices is help ourselves and our clients to maintain good health and general well-being.
Reiki compliments both traditional and alternative medicine and is increasingly being practiced in many hospitals, nursing homes, hospice and therapeutic settings.
What do Reiki practitioners do? During training we are given attunements allowing us to channel bio-energetic energy by using a series of hand placements to guide the energy along the chakra pathways for optimal balancing and healing thus giving your digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and metabolic functions a rest! Sessions normally range from 30-60 minutes.
